Detailed review of my seed purchase

I decided to try Hancock Seed for a new wildlife food plot this fall, specifically ordering the Deer Food Plot Mix. The ordering process on their website was straightforward and easy to navigate. I received an order confirmation email immediately, and a shipping notification with tracking info within two days. The package arrived in excellent condition, well-sealed, about six days after I placed the order. The seeds appeared fresh and clean, with no debris. I also purchased some Inoculants for Legumes, which were clearly labeled. I haven't planted yet, but based on the overall experience – from website to delivery – I'm impressed. The packaging was sturdy, preventing any spills or damage during transit.

Always reliable for clover

This isn't my first time ordering from Hancock Seed. I've gotten their Dixie Crimson Clover a few times now for my pasture, and it's always consistent. The germination rates are good, and the bags are well-sealed. It's why I keep coming back. This last order was just as smooth as the others, arrived in about 5 days which is typical for them.

Good seed for my lawn

I ordered some Centipede Grass Seed for a bare spot in my yard. It came pretty quick, like 4 days, and the grass actually grew in nicely. I was a bit worried since I'm not a huge gardener, but it worked out. My lawn looks much better now.

Decent overall, shipping could improve

I bought a bag of Pearl Millet for my food plot. The seed quality itself seemed fine, and it germinated well. My only minor gripe was the shipping time; it took about 7 business days to get here in the Midwest, which felt a little long. Everything was packaged securely, though, and the price was competitive. I'd probably order again, just plan for delivery.

hey, my promo code for 10% off isn't working at checkout. anyone else have this problem? it's for an order of multiple large bags of rye.

S Sam Campbell 4 weeks ago
Hmm, for large orders, sometimes they automatically apply a bulk discount instead, and you can't stack codes. Check if you already have a discount applied.

L Laura Scott 4 weeks ago
Yeah, if you're getting like farm-level quantities, the bulk pricing might be better than the promo code anyway, and it usually overrides it. Check your cart total before and after trying the code.

Hey guys, thinking of ordering some Kentucky Bluegrass from Hancock. How fast do they usually ship to, say, Texas? Trying to get it down before the next big rain.

S Steven Jones 3 weeks ago
Mine got to Houston in about 4-5 business days last month. Was pretty standard for ground shipping.

Yeah, I'm in Austin and it usually takes about a week, maybe a bit less. Depends on when you order I guess, like if it's over a weekend.

What's the deal with returns if the seed doesn't sprout? Or if I order too much and have some left over, can I send it back?

B Brian M. 2 weeks ago
Returns for seeds can be tricky because it's a living product. I think they usually want you to contact them pretty quick if there's an issue with germination, but just changing your mind might be harder.

R Robert 2 weeks ago
Yeah, I had an issue once and they were cool about it, but it was for a damaged bag. Pretty sure you can't just return 'leftovers' though, that's usually a no-go for seeds.

Anyone know if Hancock Seed has one of those 'first order' discounts? Looking to grab some clover for a food plot and every little bit helps.

K Kyle Hall 2 weeks ago
I think they do, or they used to. I signed up for their newsletter a while back and got a code emailed. Worth a shot!

S Susan Clark 2 weeks ago
Yeah, check their site or just sign up for the email list. Most places do that these days for like 10-15% off.

Thinking about getting some Bahia grass from Hancock Seed vs. Outsidepride. Any big difference in quality or germination you guys have noticed? Price seems pretty similar.

J Jacob D. 6 days ago
I've used Hancock for years for my pasture and never had an issue. Germination has always been solid. Can't speak for Outsidepride much.

N Nick H. 4 days ago
Hancock is good, I've heard Outsidepride can be hit or miss sometimes, but that's just anecdotal. Hancock is family owned too if that matters to you.
